Invitation for Contribution in RC Charumati Endowment Fund for Education Development

Background: The best way to target programs for disadvantaged communities and their access to education is through community schools. Despite the Government of Nepal’s efforts, many schools still lack basic education materials and support. As a result, the educational gap between community schools and private schools is increasing and the educational performance of disadvantaged communities remains unsatisfactory. Educational disparity later creates differences in labor productivity, which further increases the social gap between communities and has the potential to create social disturbance. This can in turn create a reduced national income that can hinder the country’s place in the competitive international market altogether. Therefore, bridging the gap between community and private schools is essential in Nepal.

Vision of RC Charumati: In order to improve the existing situation, the Rotary Club (RC) of Charumati’s (Club ID # 60815, RI District 3290) vision is to provide various types of support to needy schools and libraries in order to develop community level education.

Activities and Programs: In this regard, RC Charumati has initiated activities for supporting tuition scholarships to bright SLC appearing students from disadvantaged communities, initiated its Education Materials Support Program to contribute in terms of education materials like textbooks, stationeries, and reference books, and provide equipment – like lab materials, computer - to support learning process.

For Sustainability of above-mentioned activities and programs: In order to provide these services on a sustained basis, the Rotary Club of Charumati has instituted RC Charumati Endowment Fund for Education Development. The Fund is maintained in a separate bank account and follows a set procedure for the accepted support programs. All transactions will be made transparent. Records will be annually audited and posted on the RC Charumati web page.

Invitation for contribution: The Endowment Fund welcomes contributions from individuals, clubs and other institutions. Such contributions will be duly acknowledged with appreciation letter and/or plaque.
